Volume 12 Cover Artwork

Here's the cover artwork for Volume 12. I am going to try to get prints of both these covers. It might make this particular run a little bit more collectable.

This upcoming volume is named Waking the Stones and I'm trying to juxtapose the two separate worlds that are described in it. It's about time that we get a better understanding of what's going down in Phoenix, and Darlene is going to be our guide. She was stolen away in Volume 3 and now she's being given back to us in Volume 12 to deliver a message...

I hope everyone enjoys this last installment of Vexations for this year. It's been an excellent, however tiring, run!

Artwork from Mill Ave

© Sam Nelson 2008

I picked this up on Saturday from Sam. The lighting variation—which appears as a strange sort of MoirĂ© patterned brightness gradient—is caused because I held it up to my webcam in order to get the photograph that I’m showing here. If I can, I will try to get a much cleaner digital image.

Enjoy.

Vexations Art Acquisitions: Xin

We originally commissioned this artist to do the cover for the upcoming volume named The Shattered Violin; but after another artist became available who we had originally wanted for it we decided to have her do the work instead. Xin, of course, has been paid but as this won't be the cover for that volume we are going to release it for our fans to see.

Be sure to visit Xin's Love an Artist thread on Mill Avenue Vexations.

The Art of Vexations

I had an idea recently to write some sort of script that upon visiting www.millvexations.com would create a tiny 100px-120px banner below the primary image telling visitors about a particular artist. Especially if they had visited by clicking on an advertisement somewhere…

Example, Katie de Sousa has done an extremely lovely image of Vex Harrow that I have been thinking of using for advertisements on various networks to bring in eyeball traffic. Those who take a gander at the illustration will discover that it’s indeed eye-catching.

It would probably enhance the overall usefulness of the site and shine a light on these wonderful artists who do work for Mill Avenue Vexations.

Consider this still on the drawing board for the moment…but an idea that I really do want to implement.
